Radio

The Radio is a Miscellaneous item in Raft.

Summary[]

The Radio can be found on Shipwreck Island in the Abandoned Ship and it can also be bought at the Tangaroa vending machine service for six Vending Machine Tokens.

The Radio will play various types of music. It can be turned on and off by interacting with it.
Cassette Tapes can be put into the Radio and played.

When the Radio is placed on your raft, it can block the game's music from playing, even when the radio itself is off. (Radio does not block game music from playing while off and placed on your raft in "The Final Chapter" on PS5, current as of 1/1/25)
While playing, the Radio will spell out two secret messages in the form of letters from the naval phonetic alphabet. The messages spelled out are "All your rafts are belong to us" and "The goat is a lie", both pop culture references the first being from the old Japanese game 'Zero Wing' (original quote: All your base are belong to us ) and the second from the first Portal game (original quote: The cake is a lie). It could also be a reference to There is no Game: Jam Edition 2015, a point-and-click puzzle flash game created by Pascal Cammisotto (known online as KaMiZoTo) for the 2015 Construct Deception Jam (which it placed 1st in) and published on June 25th, 2015. This suggests the reference was intentional as it was released only 5 years prior to the addition of the radio in update 9.04 in April 25, 2019.

There is a spelling error in the "rafts" in the first message. It says "...your raOts are ...". "Oskar" instead of "Foxtrot".
