The main character of Raft is a Player. Player can choose between the female, Maya, and the male, Rouhi. Through story progression, 4 more characters can be unlocked. You can also change the color of their clothes in the main menu in the “characters” tab or in game with the wardrobe.

Summary[ | ]

The player can choose their character from the main menu. While playing, the choice will affect the voices heard, but otherwise they are identical. The player may gather resources, battle the Shark, and expand their Raft. While doing so, the player will be passively affected by up to three parameters: Hunger, Thirst, and Oxygen while swimming. There are other parameters that may affect the player, like taking damage from Enemies

Eating and drinking Sustenance items will prevent the player from dying of Hunger or Thirst, while certain items may also give a bonus to Hunger.

When the player takes damage, they will slowly regenerate health. They do this at a rate of 0.25 per second. They are the only entity that can wear Leather Armor.

By the Version 1.0‎‎, 4 more characters are added which required to be found in specific locations.

Johnny - In station 6 on the Balboa Island
Elaine - Sitting in a chair in the Bridge, after launching the codes in Tangaroa
Shogo - In the cryo-chamber room after fixing the reactor in Temperance
